Vintage Dutch Striped Cloth

These beautiful blue and black striped vintage cloths are from the Netherlands and are woven either from only wool, or linen and wool. The bewitching colour combination and glorious irregular hand woven texture make them a unique textile for use in interiors.

Heavy in weight, these woollen cloths work exceptionally well on upholstery and pair very well with equally heavy materials such as leathers, linens and canvas’s. They also make up into striking and handsome heavy curtains. Short lengths can easily be bought for use as scatter cushions.

The Netherlands has a wonderfully rich history of traditional dress, this type of cloth being woven at one time for use as ladies under skirting.

These cloths have a beautifully slubby and uneven texture, and no two are the same. We are selling them as vintage; meaning they may have marks, stains or irregularities; features to be embraced and part and parcel of the joy of buying and using beautiful old and handmade fabric!

Sold by the linear metre at widths of around 82 cm, or by the sheet at approximately 180 x 150 cm per piece.
