Puckered Linen

Our Puckered Linen is a very natural and uniquely constructed cloth, which when used in an interiors scheme adds a distinctive texture and relaxed look. Our inspiration to create this cloth came from an incredible antique french sheet that Christopher bought at a street market in Toulouse which was woven with many types of hand spun linen yarns, then repeatedly washed over the years, giving a beautiful uneven texture that we had never seen in a modern made textile.

Our version is woven in Scotland with a mixture of both combed and uncombed linen yarns, and a rougher Jute yarn, all mixed up in a haphazard pattern in both the warp and weft. The only other process this cloth goes through is a very hot wash and dry which shrinks the cloth giving the unique uneven crumpled and puckered texture. Made with no bleach, detergent or dye, this is our most natural textile.

This cloth works brilliantly for curtains, bringing both drama and a relaxed look to a scheme. It makes up very well into blinds, scatter cushions and lampshades. For directly sitting upon, we recommend it for very light use pieces of upholstered furniture. Alternatively, it can be used to great effect on the outside back and arm panels of chairs, stools or sofas, juxtaposed with other complementary fabrics or leathers.

Cleaning Advice

The cloth can be washed on a hot setting, but please expect a fractional amount of shrinkage, even though its pre-shrunk, as linen ‘relaxes’ with time. To preserve the crumpled finish, tumble dry on a hot setting after washing.
